We have started to receive requests for support in relation to The Bread & Butter Thing (TBBT) scheme. Here are the details:

TBBT is open to any resident who lives within a one mile radius of the three current hubs. They need to follow a set of steps to sign up and then may request that we collect their items.

The three hubs are:

Tuesday: Windsor Court, Newton Lane, DL3 9HF - Collection is at 1.30pm
Wednesday: Corporation Road Primary School, Corporation Road, DL3 6AR - Collection is at 2:15pm

Thursday: Red Hall Primary School, Headingley Crescent, DL1 2ST - Collection is at 1.30pm
Friday: Firthmoor Community Centre, 56 Burnside Road, DL1 4SU - Collection is at 1.30pm

If a resident wishes to sign up they need to follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Send a text to TBBT on 07537 416040 with full name, postcode and the name of their hub (Windsor Court, Corporation Road, Red Hall or Firthmoor) and TBBT will get in touch.

Step 2: Select the size of order they would like to receive. A typical family order would be £7.50, an individual would be £4. An extra large family would be £15.

Step 3: TBBT will send a text two days prior to their collection day to ask if the resident would like to order for that week. All they have to do is reply “YES” to the text by 10:00am the day before collection and TBBT will deliver their order to their hub at the specified times.

Step 4: Collect the order.

Where a resident requires assistance in collecting their order through Darlington Support, the volunteer would attend the appropriate hub on the specific day and time, provide the name of the resident who made the order and pay the required amount depending on the order size. This needs to be paid in cash or by contactless card by the volunteer, so payment arrangements would need to be agreed with the resident beforehand. Once the volunteer has collected the items, they can deliver them to the resident.
